Tracks live on your device, so playback doesn’t depend on a connection or a subscription. It just plays.
Built for tandas, but also for tracks
TandaBox understands tandas, cortinas, and the order a DJ plays them in. Traditional counts are built in as guidance: four tangos, three valses or milongas. Prefer to just play a single track? That works too.
Free means free
No track limit, no playback limit, no ads. Background audio, CarPlay and unlimited local playback are all in the free iPhone app, with room for six Mac-built tandas and one milonga playlist out of the box.
Pay only for more
Unlimited tandas, tanda building on the phone and a tango-tuned EQ are one-time purchases. There’s no subscription to cancel, because there’s no subscription.

What TandaBox is not.
TandaBox does a few things carefully instead of everything loosely. Here’s where the line is.
- Not a recommendation engine. It never builds tandas for you or scores your music — you are the DJ.
- Not a streaming app. It plays files you own. No catalog, no cloud locker.
- Not a mixing tool. No beatmatching, no effects — clean playback, honest transitions.
- Not touching your originals. Files are copied in and transferred byte-for-byte; nothing is transcoded or rewritten.
- Not interested in your data. No account, no analytics, no ads — nothing leaves your device.
Common questions.
Which audio formats does TandaBox play?
MP3, M4A/AAC, ALAC, FLAC, WAV, and AIFF. Files are played exactly as they are — TandaBox never converts or re-encodes your audio.
Will it change or reorganize my music files?
No. TandaBox copies your files into its own library and plays from there, so your original folders, tags, and files stay exactly as you keep them.
What’s free and what’s paid?
Playback is free without limits: unlimited tracks, background audio, CarPlay, ReplayGain, cortinas, plus six Mac-built tandas and one milonga playlist. One-time purchases unlock unlimited tandas and on-iPhone creation (Tanda Builder Pack), and a ten-band equalizer (Equalizer Pack). No subscriptions, no ads — ever.
How does the Mac-to-iPhone transfer work?
Over your local Wi-Fi network, directly between your Mac and iPhone. You pair the devices once, accept each transfer on the phone, and every file is verified after copying. Nothing goes through a server, because there isn’t one.
Does it work offline? In the car?
Yes and yes. Your library lives on the device, so playback never needs a connection. CarPlay is supported from day one, with tandas and milonga playlists in the car interface.
Which Macs and iPhones does TandaBox run on?
TandaBox for Mac requires macOS 26 Tahoe or later. The iPhone app requires iOS 26 or later. Older systems are not supported, and supporting them isn’t planned — building on the current frameworks is what keeps a one-person app maintainable and free of a subscription. If your Mac or iPhone can’t run TandaBox today, the honest answer is to wait until your next device rather than expect a back-port.
What about Apple Music?
Not at launch. TandaBox starts with the files you own. Apple Music is being researched; if it can be done reliably, it will come later as a separate, free connection.

Privacy, by design
TandaBox has no account, no backend, and no tracking SDKs. Your music metadata and listening habits stay on your device. The Mac transfer never leaves your local network.
