What TandaBox does.

What sets it apart comes first. The basics a good player should get right come after. TandaBox is coming soon to the App Store.

What sets it apart.

The tanda is the unit.

Not a playlist with a different name. Build tandas from your library and keep the order you chose. Tango, vals, and milonga each have their own color, and you can swap which color goes with which genre.

Milonga mode.

Plays tanda by tanda, with a cortina between tandas. Within each tanda, it leaves a short breath between tracks.

Cortinas, measured.

Thirty seconds at full volume, followed by a five-second fade. Both are adjustable. Only tracks you have marked as cortinas can be used as cortinas; nothing else is ever cut short.

A lock for the room.

In Milonga mode, the controls stay locked. Hold the amber ring to unlock them briefly; they lock again on their own.

Your plan stays your plan.

Milonga mode never rewrites the plan you built. As the night unfolds, TandaBox keeps a separate record of what actually played.

Played before?

If a track has already played tonight, TandaBox lets you know. For a single track it warns, and the choice stays yours.

When the night runs long or short.

Add or move tandas on the fly, or end the night earlier, and see the new end time immediately. Your original plan stays untouched; the changes are recorded only for that night.

Emergency Cortina.

One touch when something goes wrong. Choose it in Settings before the night, then play it right away or right after the current track.

Before you start.

A one-page check before Milonga mode begins: battery, storage, and missing files.

Breaks and free blocks.

Mark an upcoming track to pause after it. When the night calls for something outside the tanda pattern, add a free block deliberately.

The trial never stops the night.

If your trial ends in the middle of a night, the music keeps playing until you end the session.

Everything else it does well.

  • The closing track.Add a closing track, such as La Cumparsita, to your plan as a separate finale. If you end the night early, it stays.
  • Listening mode.Straight through and gapless, for home listening or practice. Shuffle works track by track. In Milonga mode, shuffle works tanda by tanda and never changes the order within a tanda.
  • Playback you can rely on.After a phone call, the night resumes where it left off. If your headphones are disconnected, playback stops instead of switching to the speaker.
  • Sound normalization. An optional setting, off by default, that brings your recordings closer to the same loudness.
  • Fix the genre without touching your files.Correct the genre TandaBox shows for a track inside the app. Your original files stay exactly as they are.
  • DJ notes.Add notes to a tanda, a Milonga plan, or a night.
  • Tanda ratings.Rate your tandas from one to five stars.
  • Search.Search your library and tandas by title, orchestra, singer, or year.
  • From your Mac.Send tracks from your Mac with the free TandaBox Transfer app over your own Wi-Fi, or use Files and AirDrop.
  • Your files stay yours.Your audio files stay available in the Files app, and you can export a report of each night.
  • Equalizer Pack (optional).A ten-band equalizer with presets designed for tango recordings: Tango, Shellac, Salon, Digital, Booth, and Cantor.
