TandaBox keeps your tango collection on your device, in its own library, playing offline every time.

• Import from anywhere. Files, the share sheet, AirDrop, or the free TandaBox for Mac. Your originals are never touched — files are copied in and played as they are.
• The formats DJs actually use. MP3, M4A/AAC, ALAC, FLAC, WAV, and AIFF — never converted, never re-encoded.
• Browse like a tango collection. Orchestras and artists, albums, genres — plus search, sorting, and an editable playback queue.
• Metadata read automatically. Tags and embedded artwork are picked up on import.

Tandas & cortinas IPHONE + MAC

The tanda is the core object here, not a playlist wearing a different name.

• Traditional conventions as guidance. Four tracks for a tango tanda, three for vals and milonga, suggested rather than enforced. Pick a different count and the app notes it once, then gets out of the way.
• A real cortina pool. Mark any track in your library as a cortina once and it becomes reusable everywhere. No duplicate files, no workarounds.
• Automatic cortina flow. Tanda ends, cortina plays, next tanda begins. Skip a cortina manually whenever the floor is ready.

Milonga playlists IPHONE + MAC

A milonga playlist is an ordered night of tandas — and the player understands that structure.

• Live tanda references. Playlists point at your tandas rather than copying them. Edit a tanda and every playlist that uses it updates, durations included.
• Cortina behavior per playlist. On or off, the global pool or a playlist-specific selection, sequential or shuffled.
• The player knows where you are in the night. Active milonga, current tanda, current track, cortina or not — Next always does the right thing.
• Resume the night. Position is saved; even after a relaunch, playback restores the milonga, the tanda, the track, and the exact time position.

Reliability is treated as a release requirement, not a feature.

• ReplayGain loudness matching — free. Decades-spanning transfers play at a consistent level, with clipping protection and a simple on/off switch.
• Everywhere you listen. Background audio, lock screen and Control Center, AirPods and Bluetooth with proper pause/resume at the same position.
• Ten-band EQ — optional. The Equalizer Pack adds a ten-band graphic EQ with tango-specific built-in presets and your own saved presets, kept separate from ReplayGain so the two never fight.

Browse your library, tandas, and milonga playlists from the car interface, resume your last session, and use standard transport controls. Creating and editing stay on the iPhone — deliberately, for safety.

Honest roadmap

Some things are being researched but are not promises for launch: Apple Music integration, opt-in Last.fm scrobbling, metadata editing, iPad. TandaBox ships what works. The full to-do list, including what will never be built, lives on the Pipeline page.
