How the two apps fit
TandaBox has two halves. TandaBox for Mac is where a night gets built: your library, your tags, your cortinas, your tandas and milonga playlists, on a big screen with room to think. TandaBox for iPhone is where it gets played. Neither depends on the other — each is a complete app on its own.
It is also growing a live side. A dedicated live-set view is designed and planned for the Mac: the playing and the upcoming track side by side with their metadata and waveforms, a queue that is the milonga playlist itself, auto gap, and a guard against the accidental click that stops the floor. That view is not built yet — when it arrives it will be announced on the Change(b)log, not before.
What TandaBox for Mac does
- Import from anywhere on your Mac. Pick files and folders in Finder, or point it at DRM-free tracks you manage in Swinsian or Music.
- Read everything automatically. Metadata and embedded artwork are picked up as your files come in.
- Build tandas by hand. Traditional four-track tango and three-track vals/milonga counts are built in as guidance.
- Assemble milonga playlists. Order your saved tandas into a full night, cortinas included.
- Send to your iPhone (when the iPhone app ships). Discover and pair over your local network, then transfer tracks, tandas, and playlists — byte-for-byte, verified on arrival, never re-encoded.
What it doesn’t do
It won’t build tandas for you, score compatibility, or plan your set. It’s an organizing tool. The taste is yours.
Installing
TandaBox for Mac is distributed directly from this page, not through the Mac App Store. Releases will be Developer ID–signed and notarized by Apple before the download link goes live, so it installs the standard way: download, drag to Applications, open.
Sending to iPhone
This is how it will work once the iPhone app ships: pair TandaBox for Mac with TandaBox on your iPhone once, over the same Wi-Fi network, and after that transfers happen directly between your two devices — no internet connection needed, no server involved, and every file verified after copying. The Mac side of the transfer is finished; it simply has nothing to pair with until the phone app arrives.
